BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is on Parliament Street just north of the junction with Cambridge Road, and opposite Betty’s Tea Room. An unusual large dial with the ’plate’ being the top surface of a low part-circular wall with a grooved inner surface, and the gnomon being a wide tilted semi-circular slab lying inside. Hour markers and lines to hours only. A plaque on the side reads: ’Presented by the Army Apprentices College to the Borough of Harrogate to commemorate the close association between college and town 1947 - 1996’. The dial was presented when the college closed in 1996.
