BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Gregory’s Church, Bedale

Henslow shows this dial clearly bearing the date 1750. It declines slightly East and is located above the Priest’s door. It was in poor condition being cracked vertically through gnomon supports, but is now (2014) ’restored’ with a totally blank dial face. Apparent earlier gnomon holes though traces of hour lines used the present ones. Ref: Henslow ’Ye Sundial Booke’, Foyle Ltd, London, 1935, p256
