BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Church of St Thomas the Apostle (1), Mellor

The motto on this dial reads: "And God commanded light to shine out of the darkness". The dial itself, dated 1843, is made of cast iron and sits unusually in a recess at the top of a gravestone, 64 metres from the entrance to the churchyard. In 1997 it was noted that the gnomon was broken and the dial was not secure.
