BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Albert Park, Middlesbrough

The dial at the West entrance of the park has mottoes that read: "First the hour then the day, Time by moments steals away", "Tempus Edax Rerum", "Therefore boast not thyself of tomorrow for on thine eyelids is the shadow of death", "The watchman by hand and fingers says the morning cometh and also the light". Also Greek and Hebrew mottoes, an eight line paraphrase of psalm xix by the poet Addison, and an inscription. History of Middlesbrough, Chap XVIII. Time in New York, Australia and Middlesbrough.
