The 460mm square stone dial plate of this vertical south dial is set into the brick corner of a gateway in the gardens adjacent to the old stable buildings (now a cafĂ©), and is canted to face south. It shows the hours in Arabic numerals 6am to 6pm with half hour divisions though the the two 6s lie below the horizontal. The gnomon arises from a half star around which is the date 1749. At the top is the motto ’Hora parsv(ss)? [or (11)? ]’ . ’Prepared for the hour’.
