BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dials are set into the building stonework, to the right hand side when approaching the building over the bridge across the moat from the country park. The west face bears the motto ’Light and Shadow but Love Alway’, and the south has ’I only Mark Sunny Hour’. Both have upright Arabic hour numerals divided to half and quarter hours. The south dial covers 6am to 5pm and has a radiant sun face around the gnomon origin. The west covers 1pm to 8pm and has a radiant crescent moon face in the upper right hand corner.
