Dial in Manchester (Greater)

The motto on this horizontal copper dial is: ’Tyme Tryeth Troth’. It is dated 1695, which fits with the date of the house’s construction during the 1680s, but is probably an early 20th century dial. It also bears engraved compass markings, and Roman numerals, read from outside and divided to 5 minutes. Mellor Hall is a Grade II* listed building.
