Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The circular dial is mounted on a fluted cylindrical pedestal of reconstituted stone with a chamfered circular capital and plinth. The gnomon curves upwards and the straight under-edge is the style which casts the shadow. Roman numerals are used to show 4am to 8pm in 30, 15, 10 and 5 minute divisions with extended half hour lines. 4am is IV but 4pm is IIII. There is a Noon Gap. The detail is Incorrectly drawn for times before 6am and after 6pm. The Motto reads: ‘Make time, save time while time lasts; All time is no time when time is past’. The ’st’ of past is squeezed in. This is a popular design, see also SRNs 4020; 4140; 4175; 4248 & 4276
