BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Peter’s School, Bootham

This strongly east declining sandstone dial is mounted above the windows over the door of the school library. The motto reads: ’MVTATO / NOMINE DE TE FAB / VLA / NAR RAT / V R’ (’Mutato nomine de te fabula narratur’ - With the name changed the story applies to you, from Horace’s Satires I.1.69). Upright Arabic numerals 5am to 2pm, with half and quarter hour divisions. The designer and maker was George Walker Milburn (1844-1941).
