BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Corhampton Church, Corhampton

Saxon vertical dial on the south wall, east of the porch. One of the finest Saxon dials in the country, the circular dial is surrounded by four ’lobes’ and four 3-leaved ornaments. There are five tide marks, two with clear crosses (tides being the Saxon unit of time, averaging 3 hours). The dial surface projects 30-35mm from the surround. The gnomon hole is 28mm diam and 40mm deep. This is one of the best preserved pre-Norman churches and has many other outstanding features, notably wall paintings. Not to be confused with St Andrew’s Church in the same village, this has no saintly dedication. Note the similar, but probably even earlier, dial a mile north in Warnford: SRN 3197 References: (1) Green A & Green PM,1952, Saxon Architecture & Sculpture in Hampshire.
