Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Friends’ Meeting House, Hawkshead

Take the B5285 east from Hawkshead and take the turn to Colthouse. The dial is off the ungraded road, on a lawn to the left of the Meeting House door. It stands on a simple square section plinth topped with a crude square slab. It is a simple dial with an 8-point compass rose, and Roman hour numerals IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, with a noon gap and divided to half and quarter hours. The thin gnomon has a very wavy north edge and no supporting shoulders, and is of the correct angle for its location of 54 degrees.
