BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Maurice’s Church, Winchester

Circular vertical south-facing dial, high on the tower, facing Market Lane. All that remains is the massive gnomon - no dial markings. St Maurice’s church was demolished in the 1950’s. The tower remains, and the archway through it between the High Street and Market Lane is known locally as ’The Covert’. The dial is mentioned in Green, Sundials, p89; Gatty, p135
