BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Mary’s Church (1), Buckland

Rectangular south-facing vertical dial on the east end of the nave. The dial is canted out from the wall in order to face due south. Apart from some decorative foliage engraved in the corners there is no ornamentation. The dial shows 6am to 6pm in half hours. The full length hour lines terminate on a semicircle round the gnomon root. The vertical Roman hour numerals use a cross patty for noon and IIII for 4pm. The wide strip gnomon has an ’S’-shaped supporter and notched end. Above the dial it is dated 1741. Note that the church is at the north end of the village, on an unnamed private road. Dial SRN 3062 is also on this church.
