BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

This dial is at the centre of the Golden Rose Avenue (the old kitchen garden), planted in 1958. A dove was brought back from Bali by Lady Churchill in 1936 and is now buried beneath the dial. The dial has a very dark patina and is difficult to read. It shows 4am to 8pm and is divided into 15 minute and three minute intervals with a noon gap. Roman numerals use the form XII and IIII. The gnomon is aligned with flats. Floral décor to gnomon supporter. The dial is set on a carved ’draped’ baluster pedestal with square capital and plinth.
