BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Mary’s Church (1), Bishopstone

Full length hour lines scratched into stone of the SW tower buttress. Numerals only across the bottom of the dial, viz: 10am, 11am and Noon. Uses XII although there might be an adjacent crudely drawn cross East of the XII. Shows lines for 9am to 3pm. The 1pm (?) line is very faint and without numeral. Rod gnomon now held by a crude bent inverted ’V’ rod structure. Evidence of an earlier fixing suggests that the gnomon is not original.
