BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Church of St Thomas Ó Becket, Warblington

Rectangular south-facing vertical dial on the church. The white stone (marble?) dial has full length hour lines and short quarter hour lines in the rectangular chapter ring. Outside it, the Roman hour numerals down the two sides are aligned with the hour lines, whereas those along the bottom are vertical. They use XII at noon and IIII at 4pm. There is no noon gap but the gnomon is quite a thin strip. The dial faces due south and so has hour lines from 6am to 6pm. However, the root of the gnomon is above the top of the chapter ring. All the hour lines from 7am to 5pm converge correctly above the chapter ring, but the 6am and 6pm marks should be above the ring but are not. Consequently, the last few quarter hour ticks are wrongly spaced, too. The gnomon is a thin metal strip with a single straight supporter. The dial is stained with rust from the gnomon supporter. An inscription above the dial reads: "Thos Smith, Wm Downor Churchwardens 1781". All text, lines and numerals appear to be engraved and filled in black.
