BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Somerleyton Hall (2), Somerleyton

The dial can be seen on the entrance path to the garden, after the pay desk. It is mounted in line with the path on a stone pedestal of rough square section decorated with lotus leaves and four mythical faces blowing winds, with a square capital and base. Shows 5am to 7pm (Solar time - though marked GMT) in 30, 15 and 10 min marks. Numerals are read from outside chapter ring. Additional time ring for ’BST’. The dial plate is etched but not filled, and shows ’Brookbrae Ltd London’. There is an excellent pierced gnomon with a floral supporter, sadly having a clumsy soldered repair.
