BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Simon & St Jude’s Churchyard, Bramdean

A polar cross dial, and a most unusual gem! Some hour lines are visible, despite the moss and lichen. No full record is available, but see the final illustration. There are more than 12 dials - each arm’s shadow falling on another arm is a sundial - though shadows are scarce as the dial is under a beech tree. The dial is mounted on an octagonal pedestal with a circular plinth and octagonal capital, and surrounded by cut iron railings. The dial is a memorial to the rector William Legge who died in 1872. It was previously on the croquet lawn at nearby Bramdean House, when the Rev’d Legge lived there.
