BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Martin Top Salem Congregationalist Chapel, Rimington

It is well worth a drive through the glorious countryside around Rimington to view this pleasing vertical dial. It declines eastwards and is kept in good repair, although the delineation has slipped a little with repainting. The motto -’TIME flies swift away’ - features an elaborate curlicue script which brings this thought to life.
