BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The Council House, Bromsgrove

In the courtyard at the back is a horizontal dial showing the hours VI-VI divided into halves and quarters. It commemorates the 400th anniversary of the school in coronation year (1953). It has the motto ’Vive memor sis aevi brevis’ (Live mindful of the shortness of life). The gnomon has been damaged with one of the shields set into its side now gone, the tip missing and the remainder bent. It is mounted on an octagonal section pedestal.
