BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Crown Hotel, Uppingham

The dial is mounted above the hotel sign, and beneath the eaves of the roof, centrally over the front entrance. The motto across the top reads: "Non Rego, Nisi Regar" [I rule not if I be not ruled]. Upright numerals VI - XII - IIII in black border, with hour lines to a square around the gnomon, and irregular subdivision ticks. Light blue centre and moulded border, with white hour numerals and lines. Gold painted motto and gnomon. The gnomon has a single straight strut, both the style and the strut having a scroll decoration attached. The tip of the style is missing. Ref: Gatty 1900 p342
