BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

War Memorial, Flore

This War Memorial is a tall tapering sandstone column of triangular cross-section, surmounted by a white stone cross. The dial is fitted high in the southern face. Above is the motto ’Post Tenebris’ (After the shadow), under a rising sun with rays. The dial has upright Arabic hour numerals for 6am to 6pm, divided to half and quarter hours. The bar gnomon has a single ’S’ support. In the face of the column below the dial is ’Their / name / liveth’, and Regimental symbols are engraved on the other two faces.
