BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Osborne House, Cowes

Motto reads: "I count the bright hours only". Shows 4am to 8pm in 5, 10, 15 and 30 min markings. Uses IIII and XII. Low pedestal, only 890h (240 sq capital). [Also there was a modern wooden non-functional dial in shade nearby.] Dial moved into store (in Indian block) after renovation of the Swiss Garden. Access now by application to Head gardener. It is thought the dial is a modern one installed at the time Osborne House was a convalescent hospital. Base of baluster pedestal now broken and missing.
