BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Mary’s Church, Brighstone

The dial is above the porch. The pierced plate gnomon has a wavy lower edge. The top of the dial is an arc of a circle and the bottom a shallower arc. Upright Arabic numerals 6am to 6pm. No hour lines, and no numeral visible for noon. An inscription at the top reads : ’ Reg Jones Ad 1727 W. Joliffe Church Rich. Woodford Wardens’ The motto (around the edge from 6am to 6pm) reads: ’O go your way into His gates with thanksgiving’ Psalm 100 v3. References: Church booklet; Mrs Gatty, (1900), p 267.
