Dial in Isle of Wight

This horizontal dial is mounted on a stone shaft in the Churchyard. The shaft, which is about 1200mm high, appears to have been part of a churchyard cross. Mrs Gatty records that it bears the date 1714, which may have been the date of a previous dial. Motto reads: "Hora pars vitae". ( An hour is a portion of life). Ref: Gatty 1900, p 280
