BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Hertfordshire

The dial is mounted on an octagonal brick pedestal in the quadrangle, 1200h with square white stone capital and plinth. It ha seven rings, one split, and includes polar and tropics circles though no horizon. A star burst nodus on the gnomon indicates the date. There are possible cut out zodiacal symbols on the equatorial band. The dial is adjustable for latitude. It shows 7am to 6pm hours only. No recorded date information. It was previously in the boys’ school which closed in 1977. Dedicated to GA (Joggers) White, an ex geography teacher at the boys’ school.
