BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St. Enoder Church, St Enoder

The gnomon is upside down! Did this happen when the dial, originally made by B Nancarrow in 1766, was restored by S A Key in 1937? The dial is supported on a corbel, said to be a headless bird, on the porch. It carries the motto, ’Time Tryeth Troth’ (Time tests fidelity). The hours VI - VI are divided into halves except between XI and II. In her book, A Celebration of Cornish Sundials’, Carolyn Martin recounts the story that the dial had been moved into the church for many years because a bride and groom did not want to start their married life under such an unfortunate motto.
