BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
This is the second oldest dial in Cornwall but it has survived pretty well. It is canted to the east on the south transept. Across the top the inscription ’Per me Jacobum Couch’ may mean that he was the maker or more probably the donor. The date 1671 and the Arabic numerals are all easily legible.The decorative border remains in fair condition as does the ornamentation below the root of the gnomon. Nowadays the dial is shaded except around midday in summer.
