BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cornwall

This dial by the churchyard gate has lost its gnomon and the square brass dial plate has been badly scratched in places. The circular dial shows the customary hours of IIII to VIII which are divided into halves quarters, eighths and 5 minute intervals. In the centre is an 8-point compass rose. The date of 1890 is visible only with difficulty as is the name of the maker, John Carlyon. It has been claimed that two other names can be deciphered - Ingram and H A Taylor- but these are not mentioned by Burge. If they are there, they may have been churchwardens.
