BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Michael’s Church, Helston

This horizontal dial is a replacement for one which is now in the Helston Museum of Cornish Life (SRN 2652). The dial plate is aluminium and the gnomon (missing by 2018) was made of wood and faced with aluminium. It is inscribed, in a freehand script, ’F. Houghton / ~ 1986 ~ ’. The hour numerals are IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, read from the inside, with a noon gap and divided to half hours only. The octagonal granite base was moved from the south door to its present position in 1986. The circular-sectioned bulbous pedestal is 1070 high and appears to have an iron ’neck’.
