BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Mary’s Church, Botus Fleming

The quality of engraving on this dial mounted on the south porch of the church is commended by Len Burge (Cornish Church Sundials) who also points out that the bird looks as though it has been carved in one continuous line. The dial follows the tradition of displaying discouraging mottoes ("Time’s on the Wing & Death’s approaching. The Hour’s Uncertain"). As usual, the Churchwardens of the time (Tho. Pears and Fr. Lang) have managed to get their names on the slate dial plate in preference to that of the vicar.
