BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is held in store. Similar to Scottish Lectern type. Thought by ARS to be the Patrington Dial (imaged). No hour lines or numerals visible. Sth polar hemicylinder with upper surface horizontal with hemispherical bowl sinking. Heart sinking on S vertical surface and many other rectangular shapes E&W.
*Confusion exists about the name attributed to this dial. J Foad (Oct 2003) notes that the original Patrington (Nr Hull) dial was destroyed in WW2 when the Hull museum was bombed. MHS Museum inventory No 37005.. Ref: T. Sheppard "Yorkshire Notes and Queries, Vol V, 1909. p27.
