BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

House side wall, Thornaby-on-Tees

A vertical dial, possibly a replica. It is painted white, with black well defined lines (but messily crowded), and upright Roman numerals. It is visible from the street but the house address is not recorded. The dial may decline slightly east since the times shown are 6am to 5pm, but the gnomon is not offset. The date 1621 is below the root of the gnomon, and the motto in the centre of the lower half of the dial is ’Lex Dei / Lux Diei’.
