BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

North Lockyer Observatory, Sidmouth

In the observatory grounds is an analemmatic sundial which requires the user to stand at the appropriate point on a N-S pathway marked with the months of the year, whereupon his own shadow will indicate the time among the slate hour markers on the ground. The dial is corrected for longitude and there is an Equation of Time plaque. The dial was designed by P G Mills. It is hoped that other types of sundial may be erected in the observatory grounds.
