Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is located on the west terrace, half a mile (and a steep path) from the car park, overlooking a magnificent fountain, and was probably sited there after a fire of 1902 when the terrace was redesigned for Sir Henry Hoare. It stands on a chamfered octagonal stone approx 50 thick, on top of the coping of a wall. The main engraving is oriented outwards. There is an 8-point compass rose labelled to NE etc. Aligned Roman numerals IIII - XII - VIII, with noon gap (4am and 4pm shown as IIII). The inner band is divided to 1/8 hours, the outer to 1 minute (10s numbered and diamonds for 5s). 16 point compass. Maker’s name viewed from inside ’I * Coggs Fleet Street / LONDON’. Ornate florally pierced gnomon.
