Dial in Hereford & Worcester

To the West of the South door is a brass horizontal sundial which shows the customary hours from IIII - VIII divided into halves, quarters, and intervals of 10 and 2 minutes. The numerals are read from outside the chapter ring. There is an Equation of Time scale marked ’Watch faster / slower’. An inscription on the gnomon reads ’*** Vicarage’. The maker’s name, Worthington, London is on the dial. He was working from 1835 -51 which gives a rough date for the dial. The dial is 250mm in diameter and is mounted on a fluted stone column 970mm high.
