BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
Near the South door of the church is a brass horizontal dial showing the hours IIII to VIII divided into halves quarters and periods of 7 1/2 minutes, the divisions being repeated outside the chapter ring. The half hours are marked by a fleur-de-lys decoration. In the centre is a 16-point compass rose. It carries the maker’s name N.Witham who was working in London ca 1716 - 1735 and a partial date 17xx. The dial is in such good condition that it is hard to believe it is not a reproduction. It is an octagon 230mm across. A mass dial is visible on the church wall.
