BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Polar dials seem fairly uncommon in this part of the world, and unfortunately this stone dial, made in 1896, is now incomplete. It was a cross dial resting on the back of a Sphinx, but the cross and the Sphinx’s head are both now missing. The site nevertheless is well worth a visit. This sundial was erected to celebrate the Relief of Mafeking in 1899. See SRN 7780 for a millennium restoration.
