Old Jordans, Jordans

Embedded in the brick wall of an outbuilding and framed in timber is this stone dial which declines 25° west. It shows the hours IX to VI divided into halves. The hour lines start from a semicircle round the gnomon root and the letters EL can be seen within this semicircle. The bronze gnomon has a srtaight supporting strut. Across the top of the dial plate the motto ’Love Endures’ is carved in relief. The dial is a 20th century one.
