BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Hatfield House, Hatfield

Located in lower walled herb garden. Gives Noon in 28 places. Shows 4am to 8pm (using XII and IIII) in 1 min marks (numerated in Arabic tens). Inward and outward half hour markers. Equation of Time scale of Sun Slow, Fast etc type. Delicate, entwined gnomon supporter. Mounted on a white, spiral, fluted, circular section pedestal with lower ’bulb’. This dial may have been originally designed for Cranborne House since the dial there and this at Hatfield were exchanged by gardening staff on the late 1990s!
