BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Peter’s Church, Thorpe Salvin

The tall column dial in the churchyard has no gnomons [but see the 1930 photo]. The mottoes read: N dial: ’No wicked man is without sin’; E Dial: ’Things onward go, approach not their appointed end’; S Dial: ’I s-ay on no man’ (or is it ’I stay for no man’?); W Dial: ’No security against death’. On the base ’1841 R B-ogers’? The Church History says ’Four carved faces at top of gnomon . . . Gnomon attributed to Robert Mason, 1838’.
