BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Andrew’s Church, Weaverthorpe

The inscription, on this important Saxon dial, reads: "+ IN HONORE: SCE: ANDREAE APOSTOLI: HEREBERTVS WINTONIE: HOC MONASTERIVM FECIT: IN TEMPORE REG.." [In honour of St Andrew, Apostle, Herebert of Winchester made this Monastery in the time of Regn.. .]. Dial divided by 12 full length ’hour’ lines in semicircle. 5 of these lines (i.e. alternate ones) are crossed. 1in diam gnomon hole has been filled. Ref: Mrs Gatty, Eden & Lloyd edition.
