BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Lancashire

An elderly resident in the churchyard near the south porch, this dial is recorded as dating from 1749. The dial plate shows numerals from IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, bases inwards, with 30, 15 and five minute divisions in the chapter ring. The unusual (and possibly incorrect) gnomon features trefoil leaves in curlicues and is strongly supported by square-sectioned ogee struts aligned across the northern end. The dial rests on a high pedestal with a multi-column base and curved tapering square sectioned upper half. Between the two parts is a deep square band carved in relief with various initials and with the date of 1683 on the southern face.
