BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Fife

The dial is in a rock garden by the pond and stands on a pedestal made of irregular blocks of stone, 600 across. The mottoes are, on the east ’Ad Lucem’, north ’Nil Sine Labore’, and west ’Mieulx Serra’. The dial shows 06.00 to 18.00 with hour lines to a small rectangle around the gnomon root, and no subdivisions. Across the south is the date 1993, celebrating the Stapleton’s golden wedding in October that year, and two Yorkshire roses decorate the NE and NW corners. All the furniture is read fron the north. This dial was originally installed at the home of the designer, 23 Strathkinness High Road, and was moved next door in 2024.
