BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is not now in its original setting but is in the Lower College Library, formerly the Election Chamber. The motto reads: "Ut Umbra sic Vita Transit" and is unusually in a scroll in the centre of the dial. There is a fly motif rebus below the motto. It shows 7am to 6pm in half hours by lines and quarters, by an alternating border. Noon is indicated by a Cross Patty.
