Church of King Charles the Martyr, Tunbridge Wells

A well known dial, declining about 30 deg west, and kept in good condition. It was purchased by the church in 1771 in order to regulate the clock. The motto reads ’Ye may waste but cannot stop me’. There is an unusual stirrup support to the gnomon. Ref: Gatty, 1900, p 483 Ref: Church Guide, with report of Oct 1995 Ref: Henslow ’Ye Sundial Booke’, Foyle Ltd, London, 1935, p60
