BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Mawlands, Messingham

The dial is mounted on the south-facing wall of the house, supported on two stone corbels. It was in excellent condition in 2015, having been recently repainted. Upright numerals VI - XII - IV - VI, with short hour and half-hour lines. Rod gnomon with a pierced solar disc nodus and diamond-pointed tip. Three declination lines are marked, together with zodiac symbols, the letters ’P’ and ’M’ being on the lower two declination lines, dated 20 August and 16 June. Across the top is ’C St J H Daniel / Delineavit - MCMXCI’ and W Benson / Mason’. Centrally below the June declination line is ’Lat 53 32 06 Long 00 39 18 W’.
