BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Berkshire

The house is opposite Littlecote Park Farm, and the dial is in a front lawn flowerbed. IIII - XII - IIII - VIII from outside, in 30, 15, 10, 7.5, 5 and 1 min marks. Split noon lines with ’LITTLECOT’ inscribed between. 16-point compass rose labelled to NNE etc. Aequation of Natural Days, pre 1752. 33 cities within chapter ring. The coat of arms has on the left two stags above, blank below, the COA of the Popham family, and on the right three panther’s (?) heads above, and below chevron with two birds above and one bird below, COA owner unknown. The probable owners at the time of the dial were Edward Popham (1712-72) and Rebecca née Huddon (1709-42). Inscribed ’Made by G Adams / at TYCHO BRAHE’s HEAD / The corner of Raquet Court / FLEET STREET / London’. Engraved ’ 51d 28m’. Fuller details are held in the archive.
