BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is over the Underground station. An outer ring depicts the history of London Transport from 1066 (the Conquest) to 1982 (the Thames Barrier). The dial has an elaborate gnomon. It shows 5am to 9pm (LAT + one Hour) in 15 minute intervals with small inward pointing marks with slightly larger half hour marks. An inset plaque commemorates the unveiling in 1992 and gives other details. There ar three inset lights. The dial was delineated by Chris Daniel, designed by John Chitty and Mike Doffie (architects), and made by Edwin Russell (sculptor).
