BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Pack of Cards Inn, Combe Martin

On the gable of the inn is a dial, dated 1752, which may not be original to the building (which dates from 1690). It is octagonal with the vertical diagonal across points measuring 760mm. At the top, ’G . 17 * 52 L’, and a fleur-de-lys. Gnomon foot in the mouth of a sun face, gnomon a thin wire? A declining dial, it shows hours IIII - III divided into halves and quarters. Narrow black octagonal frame, and all furniture blackened.
